Hot Showers

I must say it’s been the longest wait ever, but today we finally got our Hot Water back. Can you believe it?? Only took 19 days to be fixed. Two days ago we took a new route to Mario’s Pizza for our second visit to the restaurant. Along the street near our apartment, men were working and digging up a line in the street. As we passed by Bob said I hope that’s our water line they’re fixing. That night turned on the hot and the water was brown. I mean literally dark brown.

Bob said we needed to flush all the lines. Turned on all the faucets and ran them for about 5 mins. The water got no better, so we shut them all off. The water was so dirty and full of mud, I had to scrub all the sinks and tubs with Comet, very hard to get rid of the dirt. Not sure how it sticks so fast and hard to the tubs in that short of a time span, but it does.

Later that night went to turn on the water and there was none at all. No hot and no cold. We panicked a bit, but we still had two jugs of bottled water; so we figured we could use that to cook and take a sponge bath with.

Yesterday morning Bob went to the grocery store and there had been a “run” on all the large bottled water jugs. So he had to by us 6, 1.5 liter bottles, and bring them all home. Good thing the stroller we brought along with us has a small basket underneath. Later that day; we got cold back. So we figured well at least we just have to boil the water and now we can flush the toilets!

This morning we woke to find our hot water on, but it doesn’t get very hot. This time at least the water is clear, and no mud. Not sure how they got rid of the mud in the lines. So we got our first Hot Shower in weeks today.

Last week our weather took a turn on us, and got very hot and muggy. Was beginning to wish for the rain to cool us off and get rid of the mugginess. It was so hot; the minute we stepped outside we began to sweat. And then when we strap on Hayden in the Baby Bjorn, makes whoever has him all that much hotter. Well yesterday a storm set in; got rain in the late afternoon and is continuing off and on today. But thankfully it has brought in a cool breeze/wind, along with it. Hoping this cooling trend stays with us, because there is no air conditioning in this apartment and being on the 3rd floor, makes it hot in here.

Saw Lena today, worked on getting our docs ready since Bob is leaving early. Haven’t seen much of Lena other than for our court appearance on Monday. Once they saw that we were pretty self sufficient, our “check-ins” disappeared, along with our trips to the store. Got to the store twice with Lena/Anatoly the first week; to get set up; then once the following week; but nothing ever since then. Just as well, we are pretty self sufficient and prefer it that way.

We have “first” to report. Hayden’s first tooth is finally appearing. His bottom front tooth broke the surface today! Wow, he just may be talking by the time we get home!

First photo is of Tamara our facilatator, Annie who has adopted Lilly, Lena our translator and Chandler/Allison from NC who have adopted two kids Alayna and Nate. These were taken outside the courthouse. The second pic -- you ought to know who; big smiles because we were granted our adoption.
